The National Chimney Sweep Training School of Ireland in association with the Chimney Safety Institute of America commenced training on January 5th, 2009. (The course was a  complete success.)

September 7th-12th was also a complete success as all 4 candidates achieved the required 80% exam pass rate at the new home of the NCSTS of Ireland, Wicklow County Campus, Rathnew, Co. Wicklow.

The next course was held February 1-6, 2010. 3 Candidates passed the certified chimney sweep exam.

The National Chimney Sweep Training School is designed to provide fundamental chimney service education for:

- Those considering the chimney service business. 

- Anyone who recently started a chimney service business.  

- New employees: In just six days, the National Chimney Sweep Training School provides a great head-start training for new members of staff.

- Chimney sweep company owners who want the benefit of expert advice and the latest information on codes, tools and technology.

The National Chimney Sweep Training School teaches sweeping and inspection of different chimney systems, operation of the necessary equipment, health and safety considerations and much more. It is a step- by-step instruction of the codes, clearances, standards and practices of the chimney service trade. After completing the program, many will have earned the Chimney Safety Institute of America's Certified Chimney Sweep credential.

The course combines classroom training with hands-on experience, both at the National Chimney Sweep Training School in County Wicklow and in real homes with real customers. Over 30 hours of classroom time is dedicated to gaining a working knowledge of the terminology, theory, tools, systems processes and concerns of the chimney service trade.

Note:

Prior to the exam, candidates are required to sign the CSIA code of Ethics and Annual Certification Maintenance Fee Acknowledgement.

If for any reason, candidates do not receive the 80% pass rate, they will have the opportunity to re-sit the exam after one month of completing the original exam.

                                      The Code Of Ethics:

1. To learn and utilize all chimney and venting safety practices and              techniques that are promoted by the Chimney Sweeps Association of Ireland, now affiliated to the Chimney Safety Institute of America.

2. To render my services in an honest and fair manner and to refrain from engaging in deceptive practices or making any deceptive statements.

3. To comply with all applicable building codes in the area I service with the manufacturer's installation instructions for the products I install , and with recognised chimney and venting practices.

4. To promote and educate consumers about safe chimney and venting practices.

5. To strive to continually update my knowledge, skills, and technique with regard to currently accepted chimney and venting practices.

6. To conduct myself in a decent, respectfull and professional manner when serving in my capacity as a chimny sweep, or when attending a function or event of an organisation in the chimney or hearth products industry.

7. To comply with the proper usage of all CSIA Registered Trademarks as defined in the CSIA Trademark Use Guidelines document.

Course Duration: 6 Days including 1 Field Day 

Class size is limited to ensure a ratio of no more than eight students per instructor. The small class size means that students have the opportunity for individual attention from the school's experienced instructors, and ample opportunities for hands-on training. Because class size is limited, it is important to apply early to reserve a place in the class.

Cost of tuition including a copy of the Successful Chimney Sweep Manual, CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep Exam and 1 years International membership of the National Chimney Sweep Guild of America is €2,500.
